My interest in decorative painting evolved from my interest in art history and from a tradition of hand painted furniture in my husband’s family. I think we should all be able to live with functional artful objects every day and be able to pass them along to next generations of family. I have a B.F.A. in printmaking and I have always loved drawing and painting.

For 25 years I owned and operated a graphic design business in Northampton, MA and at my home studio in Leverett, MA. While I was in school I was botanical and zoological illustrator as a school job, and so painting animals, flowers, insects and forms from the natural world as well as the use of typography is always exciting to me. Color and composition are also important in making each project unique as is the collaboration with my clients. This is a fun part of the decorative painting business and I’ve met many interesting people in the 17 years I’ve been painting professionally.
